Introduction

The training program “The Art of Speaking and Diction” will highlight a number of headlines starting from communication that would drive us to an art that is considered as one of the most important arts in our lives; it’s the people skills. If we managed to secure a well-established basis of good interpersonal skills with others, this would please us in the first place, because we would feel liked by others and their interest in mixing with us, and this would make them feel excited for dealing with us in the second place.

The importance of listening comes not only from receiving a message. It’s the process of receiving verbal and non-verbal messages and cues, building a meaning and responding to such messages, and these all require attention and concentration. Listening is considered one of the most important senses in the human being through which the human speaks, learns and reaches to the highest ranks. For the importance of listening in understanding the words, it was once said that “He who abuses listening abuses responding”. The program would as well touch upon the thinking topic and critical listening, dialogue and violence, and they are all connected with the art of speaking and diction.

The program would next talk about the pitching a proposal and presentation whereas the pitching is about giving information to those interested to benefit from them, or a new idea for the sake of obtaining the approval and support. Presentation is to stand in front of a group of audience to highlight a certain topic for the sake of informing a certain information (training or new teachings), or for convincing them with a certain idea to motivate them into doing something in particular. Persuasion and influence have so important role in mastering the art of speaking and diction insomuch as the persuasion process aims to sway or plying the opinions of the audience toward a targeted opinion or view wherein the sender or the speaker would handle the task of persuasion. However, the receiver or target audience would be in place of receiving the conviction. Conviction process needs not the skills of the speaker or those responsible for persuasion only, yet it needs too some kind of readiness of the target or assistance in burgeoning such willingness.

The training program “The Art of Speaking and Diction” will guide us through to the press conferences and interviews, which are deemed as one of the most important platforms that need sufficient knowledge of the art of speaking and diction until they are fully mastered. Press interviews aims to communicate some information to the audience through specialized vehicles that convey all that’s relevant to the audience from news and information for the sake of sensitizing and informing them with the daily issues. Lastly, we would also learn all that’s related to the diplomacy and protocols, including the difference between them both, and some other pertaining information. We will also learn some of the rules of etiquette, like the etiquette of compliment, correspondence and visitation, whereas the applied rules of etiquette are deemed part of the life and reality of the humanity, as they are being applied in a daily basis in the life of the individuals and organizations, because they are but some social behaviors known to the all, and practiced habitually.
