Introduction
Presentations are one of the widespread communication vehicles in the business environment. The continuous development in the display applications and programs have lead to their adoption. Such applications and programs have provided presentations powered by voice, pictures, colors, and motion as well. And all of which are elements that would shroud any topic with effectiveness and attraction, and guide them toward the bullet points in the presentation.
Just as any communication process, presentations should be made within a pointed methodology that revolved around the aim of presentation and audience understanding. Based on those two basic elements, the audio-visual aids will be activated in a way that would enhance the success of the presentation in achieving its purpose.
Preparing presentations is considered one of the skills required in business and state sector alike, whereas the new hires are supposed to own such skills for devising presentations, which should be made by themselves or others. This material would be concerned with aiding the trainees to learn the fundamentals and the detailed steps that guide the process of preparing presentations and implementing them with a focus on the three major steps of this process: preparing for the presentation, building the presentation, and giving the presentation. Not to mention, focusing on the aspect of the audio-visual aids and the psychological readiness due to their importance in the success of the presentations. This material is not, however, about the technical skills of using the presentation programs, such skills would be addressed in a separated material.
This material is broken down to two chapters: the first chapter is about preparing for the presentation, and includes the basic concepts required for developing the skills of the presentation, types of presentations, how to know the main steps of presentations, developing the ability to plan the presentations through identifying the presentation objectives, analyzing the audience intended, how to choose the supportive elements, and developing the ability to deal with tension that associates the presentation process. The second chapter, however, is to address the process of presentation, and includes mastering the preparation of presentation and how to organize its content, and understanding how to activate the technological aids for the sake of pulling off the presentation and make it successful, learning how to control the nerves during the presentation process, how to best use notes journal, podium, learning how to control voice and the non-verbal (body language) expressions during presentations.
